Museum Selma will be a place of culture that does not yet exist in Germany: The first museum of immigration and migration in Germany that is being developed by, with and civil society. As such, Museum Selma is a commitment to the migration society.

Its multi-perspective approach closes a gap in the German culture of remembrance, which often excludes (post-)migrant voices and perspectives of Black people and People of Colour.

This is ensured by the collection, which is unique in Germany. Behind the project is DOMiD, the documentation centre and museum on migration in Germany.

On an area of 10,000 square metres, a location with a diverse usage concept is being created in Cologne, which includes exhibition spaces, workshop rooms, a cinema room, event rooms, workshops and archive and library spaces.

The museum is still in the construction phase and will open in 2029.
